681 CAMPBELL BRIDGE RD, Seneca, United States
Dress for the weather with closed toed shoes or boots. Clothes that can get dirty. We will be in the pastures with the sheep and goats. We will learn how to care for them, how to handle them and even assist a new sheep mom with newborn babies. We will have guardian dogs in the pastures with the livestock. Dont bring your dog to the farm, it will upset the guardian dogs that are watchin their flocks. This class can be the beginning of regular meeting on a monthly or possibly more frequently.
Info: This class is designed for children to learn about how to care for sheep and goats. At this time of year, We will begin having baby goats and lambs. There's some volunteer opportunities during the week for teens that could also come to this class to earn how they can help. We have had Homeschool families participate in our 4H clubs and continue to help out additional times. This class is not a drop off. Parents must attend this class. We have a working farm with over 300 animals. We could very well have a live birth during this class. We might have a few babies already born! We want everyone to see this beautiful part of creation but need to remember that the mama sheep and goats might not share in your joy! Remind your children to be careful not to run towards the sheep or goats. We will review all the methods of approaching and how to be good shepherds and helpers! It's going to be so much fun!
