Guided Stories: The Human Story Book World Café

About this Event

🌿 Invitation to Guided Stories at the Human Story Book World Café 🌿

Stories that Break Walls, Voices that Build Community
Breaking silence, restoring dignity.

Mental health affects not only individuals but also families and communities. Stigma isolates, shames, and silences — often leading to despair and broken lives.

This event breaks the silence. Through real stories of resilience and recovery, The Human Story Book challenges stigma, restores dignity, and shows that healing is possible. These voices highlight root causes like poverty, discrimination, and violence, sparking empathy and hope.

Why Attend?

  • For the public: Healing goes beyond medicine. It is shaped by culture, strengthened by community, and rooted in our humanity. Listening to these stories helps us support one another with compassion.
  • For professionals: Learn from lived experiences that enrich clinical practice. These insights deepen understanding, improve care, and affirm that healing is cultural, communal, and deeply human.

At its heart, this World Café is about connection, dignity, and empathy. True healing lives in culture, community, and the courage of being human.

🌍 Join us to walk alongside stories that break walls, confront stigma, and build communities of care.

Izzah Malik

Ms. Izzah’s story is one of courage, resilience, and hope. She has bravely faced the challenges of depression and schizophrenia, and today she channels those experiences into her work as a Peer Support Specialist. With a Diploma in Food & Beverage Business and specialised training in peer support, she has transformed her struggles into strength and purpose. Her mission is simple yet powerful — to walk alongside others on their recovery journeys. Izzah believes recovery is not a destination but an ongoing journey, and no one should ever have to walk it alone. Through empathy and encouragement, she reminds us that healing and growth are always possible.

Shermin holds a Diploma in Mass Communication from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, where she honed her skills in media production and storytelling through an internship with Channel NewsAsia’s Current Affairs team. Currently with HappyHeartHub, she channels her creativity and communication skills into meaningful community work that uplifts others.

Motherhood became a defining chapter in Shermin’s journey, reshaping her path with resilience, adaptability, and the value of authentic connection. These life lessons now guide her writing and advocacy, where she blends professional expertise with lived experience. As a blogger, writer, and mental health advocate, Shermin uses her voice to share stories of hope, healing, and growth—reminding others that strength often emerges through vulnerability.
