Do you always use auto mode when you get your SLR out? You’ve tried reading the books and watching the videos but it just isn’t making sense? Manual mode just feels too scary? Join professional photographer Kate Hollister for a fun and practical workshop that will have you walking away with a new confidence in taking great photographs. Learn how to use manual mode with ease. This workshop only has 5 women so you will be part of a supportive group of women who want to learn just like you and get lots of one on one time with Kate to put your new skills into practice.

This workshop is designed by a woman for women. Kate understands how daunting it can be to learn a new skill and to join a workshop. There are no stupid questions, only a safe place to learn.

Kate Hollister is a professional photographer who has an Advanced Diploma of Photography from TAFE SA and has extensive practical experience in many different areas of photography.

What’s different about this workshop:

• The workshop starts over a drink where you’ll learn skills that you’ll put into practice once you’ve finished your drink (coffee or non-alcoholic drink included in ticket price).
• It is only women so you can feel comfortable and make some new friends.
• With only 5 women in the group you get one on one attention from Kate to see improvements in your photography then and there.
• This workshop is at basic photography level.
• A relaxed atmosphere that is full of laughter and learning. You’ll discover that taking lovely photographs doesn’t have to be hard.
• This workshop is has both theory and practical parts.
• Take home an instructional booklet so you can review what you've learnt.
• Continue the conversations in the exclusive Facebook Group.

What you will you learn:

• how to use your camera
• how to watch light
• how to use rules of composition to take great photographs
• how to edit your photographs

Details:

• 25th October 2025
• Start at the Cafe Froot (36B Semaphore Rd, Semaphore SA 5019) at 9:00am.
• Finish at the Palais Hotel (86 Esplanade, Semaphore SA 5019) at 12:00pm.

What to bring:

• Camera with a charged battery
• Drink bottle
• Memory space

Please note: This class require at least 2 guests to run and I'll cancel the class if the number isn't reached. I'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class. An alternative date may also be arranged in the event of bad weather.
