💛 Why Friends of Olivia Is Passionate About This Topic
At Friends of Olivia, communication is at the heart of everything we advocate for. We believe every child deserves the chance to express their needs, feelings, and ideas — no matter their diagnosis or developmental stage.
In our rural communities, so many children go unidentified or unsupported simply because families don’t know AAC exists. Lack of awareness, limited local resources, and stigma mean that many children who could thrive with AAC never get evaluated.
We’ve seen firsthand how AAC can transform a child’s ability to connect with the world — and how life-changing it is for parents to finally understand their child’s voice. This workshop is our way of helping bridge the gap, raise awareness, and make sure families in Selma and surrounding areas know what options are available.
