🪑 Chair Weaving Class with David White
📅 Saturday, October 18, 2025 | ⏰ 9:00 AM
📍 Miss Minnie Sue's Cottage, 622 McLeod Ave. (across from Sturdivant Hall)
Sponsored by the Selma-Dallas County Historic Preservation Society
Bring a chair you’ve been meaning to fix—or just bring yourself! Whether you’re a first-timer or a returning participant, you’ll enjoy this hands-on workshop. David will guide you through one of the oldest methods of chair seat weaving, a craft that dates back before Moses and has been passed down for centuries.
Past participants have repaired and restored beautiful rush-woven seats, once made from bullrush, cornstalks, cattails, and corn husks—later replaced by fiber rush during the Great Depression.
👉 Come with a work in progress, tools, or simply your curiosity.
