Grammy Award–winning drummer, composer and educator Dion Parson has been leading 21st Century Band for more than two decades. The group’s innovative sound melds Virgin Islands traditions, such as Quelbe, and Caribbean expressions — reggae, calypso, soca, mento, ska, zouk, steel pan, chutney, and funk — with New Orleans and African influences.
Widely respected on the New York jazz scene for over 30 years and recognized worldwide, Parson has recorded on over 80 albums for major labels including Columbia, Sony, Gramavision, and Blue Note.
