Quiet Density
First Friday Art Walk | January 2nd | 3–7 PM
We invite you to begin the new year with Quiet Density, a thoughtfully curated evening exploring the power of presence, material, and restraint. This First Friday focuses on works that speak softly yet carry immense weight — art that rewards stillness, contemplation, and time.
Now featured in the exhibition:
Christopher Ries
Ries’ cold-sculpted optical crystal works embody quiet density in its purest form. Carved from solid blocks of optical crystal, his sculptures appear minimal at first glance, yet reveal extraordinary internal complexity through light, refraction, and subtle optical illusion. As you move around each piece, the work transforms, shifting from bold and luminous to nearly invisible, inviting slow looking and reflection. With the artist now retired, these rare works represent a profound convergence of mastery, patience, and permanence.
Colin Branham
In contrast yet perfect harmony, Colin Branham’s abstract paintings bring layered energy and internal movement. His compositions are rich with gesture and color, yet carefully balanced, dense with emotion and intention rather than excess. Designed to be hung either vertically or horizontally, Branham’s works offer versatility while maintaining a strong, grounded presence, making them both visually compelling and deeply livable.
Together, these artists create a dialogue between light and surface, solidity and motion, silence and expression, defining the essence of Quiet Density.
Join us for an intimate First Friday evening surrounded by museum-quality works, thoughtful conversation, and the kind of art that unfolds slowly, revealing more the longer you stay.
