Sharlene MacLaren
MacLaren born and raised in west Michigan, Sharlene attended
Spring Arbor University. Upon graduating with an education degree in 1971, she taught second grade for two years then accepted an invitation to travel internationally for a year
with a singing ensemble. In1975, she returned to her teaching job and then married her childhood sweetheart. Together they raised two lovely daughters, both of whom are now happily married and enjoying their own families. Retired in 2003 after 31 years of teaching, “Shar” loves to read, sing, travel, and spend time with her family, in particular, her wonderful, adorable grandchildren! A Christian for almost 60 years and a lover of the English language, Shar has always enjoyed dabbling in writing. She remembers well the short stories she wrote in high school
and watching them circulate from girl to girl during government and civics classes. With the teacher’s back to the class, some girl would whisper from two rows over: “Pass me the
next page.” In the early 2000s, Shar felt God’s call upon her heart to take her writing pleasures a step further and after writing for six years, finally landed a contract to publish her first faith-based novel titled Through Every Storm. Now, with more than 20+ published novels, she daily gives God all the glory.
Over the years, Shar’s books have reaped awards and nominations in several categories such as the “American Christian Fiction Writers nomination for Book-of-the-Year”,
“Road to Romance Reviewers Choice Award”, “Inspirational Readers’ Choice Award”, and the “Retailers’ Choice Awards” to name a few. In addition, Interviews and Reviews voted one of her novels, A Love to Behold, “Book of the Year for 2019”.
Shar does numerous countrywide book-signings and has made several television and radio appearances. She loves to speak for community organizations, libraries, church groups,
and women’s conferences. In her church, she enjoys involvement in women’s ministries, and regularly attends Bible studies and other events. She and her husband Cecil live in Spring Lake, Michigan with their beautiful white collie, Cody.

Finding Peace in Noisy Places
We can probably all agree that we live in an upside-down world that makes our quest for a tranquil life, difficult, at best. Running here and there, keeping schedules straight, trying to make ends meet, overseeing our homes, working outside our homes, worrying, trying to live-up-to other’s expectations, and our own. Add to all these, the defeat we experience when we want to share with others the good news of Jesus and how He can bring hope, joy and peace, but – we are tired, spent, running on empty. We can barely get to the end of our
own day.
This truly is NOT how God wants his people to live. There is a better way. In the letter to the Philippians, Paul tells us that the living God is the God of Peace who promises us His peace.
This 2-part study will give practical applications from God’s Word on how to build a biblical foundation into the moments of our lives giving us the ability to go about our days “Finding Peace in Noisy Places”.

who would let you pour out your heart without interrupting or offering advice? Gracious listening is a skill you
can learn to enhance your relationships and ministry. In the first session, we will see what the Bible says about listening and
how to become a great listener. In session two, we will practice the gift of gracious listening.

“Revelation Blessings”
“Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.” -Revelation 1:3 In this Breakout Session, we will “unveil” and “take to heart” together the details of John’s vision of Jesus in Revelation 1, and compare and contrast the messages to the Seven Churches in Revelation 2-3. We’ll study, and be encouraged, and inspired by the Blessings promised to those who overcome! “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” – Revelation 3:22. Do you have an ear to hear? For all of us, the “time is near”!
Worship Leaders:
Tammie Kosters is returning this year as part of the worship team for the conference. No stranger to Bay Shore, she had been involved in playing, singing, teaching, and conducting for many years. "What a privilege it has been to spread the Love of God through music....a privilege and a calling. I can't wait to join you in worshipping our Lord together!"
Kendra Brady is a dedicated wife to Terry and mother of two, with a son, Dylan, currently in college, and a daughter, Lexi, who is a senior in high school. She runs her own successful home daycare, where she nurtures and cares for children in her community of Muskegon, Michigan.A committed member of Shores Community Church, Kendra serves as a deacon of worship and is an active member of the worship team, offering her time and talents to the Lord. She was blessed to help lead in worship at the conference in 2024 and is excited to back with all of the ladies again!
