Join Katie Phillips and Karen Joy Brown, formerly of the Bootleg Honeys every 1st and 3rd Sunday from 1:30-3:30 at Coffee & Moore in Sebastopol for afternoons of critic-free women's performances where veterans and newbies can share original music or covers with a supportive, listening crowd. By the way, we mean all women, and femme trans and nonbinary folks who feel comfy being in “women’s spaces."
olo singers or duos are welcomed. A steel-string acoustic guitar, piano, and microphone are provided, but you can bring your own acoustic guitar, ukulele, banjo, etc.
Supernova Support's NOT SO OPEN MIC uses Gateless methodology based on creative neuroscience, ancient Zen, and craft resources that move us beyond our conditioned, critical mind to a place of limitless potential.
In that spirit, the hosts and all participants agree to refrain from critical comments or advice giving in order to create a safe space for our creativity and craft to grow. Specific, supportive, craft-focused comments highlighting what stood out or worked well are encouraged during the show and beyond!
EXAMPLE: "The singer's tone was rich and open. / The chorus was so catchy. / The poetic description was magical." Each performer will receive a brief written note from the hosts along those lines to take with them.
Your creativity thanks you for giving it a safe place to express and develop!
