Hark, Hark, the Seattle Dub Club Final Chapter soon come on Saturday October 4, 2025. Our Original Soundsystem aficionados - the Ital Counselor - alongside Kibo HiFi hand-built-soundsystem, have reached “The symmetry of 10”. Our first Chapter was held at Culture Yard on Dec 17, 2022.
The number ten connotes completeness. Subsumed under this completeness is a union of smaller equally important parts that coalesce to make up the whole. Ten also signifies new beginnings and the potential for synergistic transformation.
It is our desire to go out in a fashion befitting the occasion. It will be a Kibo Hi Fi full crew pressure event with Pupa Kibo, Ital Counselor, Ribbit Ninja, and Megawatts performing all of the functions of a Sound System in the purest and most traditional sense. Proprietor and technician, selector and compere, warm up crew, and box boys. This is sound system culture as we believe it to be in its most potent and powerful form.
The mighty Jah Shaka, the primary influence on our sound and the template of how we have stridently aimed to present the music to the Seattle community, started a series of Dub LPs in 1982. Naturally, this vinyl series ended at Chp. 10 reflecting his biblical influence and the spiritual import of his recording and sound system mission.
It has been our mission to honor the impact of Shaka and other sound system legends on our lives by presenting the music with the integrity we believe it deserves. Our efforts have always centered on the purpose of honoring the lineage of sounds and labels that have come before us. We have aimed not to merely be a vehicle of entertainment and escape, but rather an edutainment sound. This is the case for both Kibo Hi Fi and Ital Counselor Records.
We have stuck to our vision and for this we are proud.
We are proud also to have worked with the Culture Yard family and community. Our Respect to the “equally important parts” that have coalesced to make the Seattle Dub Club whole. Most of all, the People, the Massive, that attend our Dub Club Sessions.
Alas, the symmetry of 10 beckons. It beckons us forward to new heretofore uncharted territory beyond the realms of dub…
The Kibo HiFi Soundsystem and Crew have decided this will be their last session together at the Culture Yard, before their shift into new creative and personal endeavors in different domains.
So everyone, come Join the Final Seattle Dub Club at Culture Yard featuring the Lickle but Talawa Kibo Hi Fi Sound-system! It's going to be a very special Session.
