What does it mean to survive?Bear witness to the world of Anne Frank and other young people living through the Holocaust, from the point of view of Anne Frank's "best friend."Sarah is a historically accurate composite character, based on the testimonies of those who knew Anne Frank, as well as other victims, resisters and survivors of the Holocaust and World War II.Like Anne Frank, Sarah is a young Jewish girl in Amsterdam when Hitler comes to power in the 1930s, whose experiences under Nazi rule, in hiding and through the concentration camps parallel Anne’s story.Through the Eyes of a Friend remains faithful to Anne Frank's life and her world.
brings the experience of Anne Frank to life with a powerful combination of archival film and live performance. Bear witness to the Holocaust from the point of view of Anne Frank's friend: a composite character based on the real testimonies of friends, witnesses and other survivors. Post show exploration of the personal stories and impact of the Holocaust includes visually engaging images and resources from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
We invite you to tour the Henry and Sandra Friedman Holocaust Center for Humanity, a museum and educational center dedicated to connecting the lessons of the Holocaust to our world today.
