Welcome back to a whole new Friday Milonga at OmCulture. Please note that we are changing the opening format of the 3rd Friday milonga. From now on, we will open doors by 7:15 and run a one-hour class before the dance. These classes will be taught by some of our excellent local teachers who will offer an all levels class to give you an idea of their teaching style. There is no charge for the class. OmCulture is offering this both as a means for local teachers to promote themselves and as an opportunity for dancers to learn and socialize prior to the milonga. We will also occasionally invite well-known teachers from outside Seattle.
This month we welcome as both guest instructor and DJ, Helene Eriksen. Helene is a dance ethnologist who has been dancing, researching, teaching and performing traditional dance all of her life. She has been dancing tango for 20 years and lives in Buenos Aires where she lives the life of a milonguera, but also teaches private lessons, DJs and helps tango tourists to explore the city and the local tango scene. As a DJ her drive to create satisfying traditional tandas comes from her years of experience on the dance floors of Buenos Aires. She DJs and teaches close embrace tango in North and South America, in Europe and beyond.
