This 3 CEU presentation will explore the ways neurodivergent people have created culture and community, as well as the barriers to neurodivergent people finding community and support, including late diagnosis and masking. Participants will learn the importance of community to neurodivergent people and learn ways to support clients in finding affirming community, which is a key component of neurodivergent thriving!

Katie Jo or KJ Glaves (she/they) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Washington state. She specializes in working with neurodivergent children, teens and families. They have presented widely, including at UW's MHI, the International Family Therapy Association conference (IFTA), the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR) and the WAMFT conference. KJ has contributed two articles to Frontiers in Psychiatry, both on autism and ethics. She is currently the Clinical Director of Child and Family Services at Protea Wellness, a member-at-large for the WAMFT and a senior lecturer at Antioch University Seattle. KJ’s hobbies include hanging out with goats, playing board games and reading too much.
Lindsay Meagher, MA, LMHC (they/them) is a fully licensed mental health counselor in Washington State.
They graduated from Antioch University Seattle's MA in counseling program, Chi Sigma Iota in 2020. They co-taught a workshop on strength-centered approaches to bipolar disorders at the American Counseling Association national conference in 2017 with the then-chair of their graduate program, Dr. Colin Ward. Lindsay started out as an eccentric "gifted child," and they were later diagnosed with ADHD at age 26 and autism at age 39. They are queer, nonbinary, and an enthusiastic fan of many artistic and cultural experiences, such as watching Star Trek, listening to punk rock and hip hop music, and hearing all about animal trivia.
Aaren Connors (he/they) is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State; he specializes in working with neurodivergent and trans/nonbinary clients. Aaren is personally and professionally passionate about gaming and nerd community and will integrate those passions into therapeutic work when appropriate. They have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including community clinics and private practices.
This is a WAMFT-approved continuing education training and provides 3 CEUs for Therapists, Counselors and Social Workers (fully licensed and associates) in Washington State and other approved states.
