Begin the shortest day of the year in the most nourishing way — moving, breathing, and watching the sun rise over the water. For this special edition of my Sunday beach class, we’ll meet a little earlier to honour the light returning. I know it's early for a Sunday morning, but it will be so amazing, I promise!
We’ll gather at Tide Mills beach, between Seaford and Newhaven (BN25 2RT), on our usual quiet patch of flat ground just back from the pebbles — on a quiet spot of flat ground just back from the pebbles—where we will be more comfortable and balanced.
The class is open to all levels and will gently stretch and awaken the body. We’ll focus on releasing tension in the larger muscles, improve circulation, and supporting the nervous system through breath-led movement.
There’s something undeniably powerful about practising outdoors on a day like this. The elements, the cold, the spaciousness — they help us regulate, reset, and tap into a deeper sense of presence. Natural light supports our circadian rhythm, fresh air wakes up the body, and that long horizon line gives our screen-weary eyes a moment of real rest.
After class, you’re welcome to join a sea swim. The water in December is brisk (to put it lightly), but it’s also incredibly uplifting — whether you dip, wade, or dive. Cold water can boost energy, improve circulation, sharpen focus, and leave you with that unmistakable post-dip glow.
We’ll finish the morning with hot tea and some light breakfast snacks, soaking in the sunrise and that shared sense of calm before the day begins.
