About the event
Brooks Mine Equipment Demonstration Day and Cookout
We will be featuring an equipment operating day Saturday, June 7 from 10-5PM. For the first time the public will be able to see a Coal Drag, or Slusher Hoist operate underground. We will be featuring an equipment operating day which will include running the drag, and various examples of coal and rock drills both pneumatic and manual. Bonus for the day is we will also be featuring historic mine illumination lamps, wearing and displaying various oil wick, carbide and flame safety lamps that we have ran in in the past on tours here. Double Bonus, for the day expert Grill Master Mark Izak, will be serving up his best hot dogs for visitors! It's going to be a great time, so mark your calendars! As always admission to the Brooks Mine and our event is completely free, but we encourage donations that go right back into continuing our mission of Historic Anthracite Mining Education!
