This event was created to honor Bob Kierlin, founder of Fastenal Company and lifelong supporter of youth programs. All proceeds go to various local area youth organizations/programs demonstrating financial need. Within the last 3 years, the Scranton BK5K has had the honor of awarding a total of $84,661.14 in grants to our local community. The 2024 Scranton BK5K raised $28,000 in grants that were awarded to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Boy Scout Troop 34, Carbondale Area Jr-Sr High School, Greater Scranton YMCA, Mid Valley School District, Neil Armstrong Elementary School (Mighty Milers), NEPA Youth Shelter, and the Valley Community Library. This year, we are determined to make an even larger impact on helping the youth in our community. To do this, we are asking that the community comes together and helps in any way they can! This year, we have added a “Fun Walk” for those who would like to participate/support the cause but do not want to complete a full 5K.
