Icon Writing Workshop

Christian icons have served as “Windows into Heaven” for nearly 2,000 years.

Iconography begins with prayer and is executed with the sense that the seven days of creation are being represented in the artistic endeavor. This workshop is an instruction in icon writing in the Byzantine-Russian tradition. Its objective is the completion of one icon, provided attendance for full six (6) days and the completion of daily assignments as allocated by the instructor. For beginning, as well as for intermediate and advanced icon writers. Beginners will write the figure of St. George (a bust). Those with experience in iconography will write St. George and the dragon.

The total cost includes room board and tuition (36 hours of studio instruction and all art supplies)
