There is a story stored in every fiber every thread and in every bone structure. An echo that resonates in who we are and what we are becoming. Technological innovations social developments and artistic dreams seem to pull us further and further into the future. But every step forward is rooted in a step back. Historical events and cultural traditions form the foundation on which our future is built.
'Echoes in the Bone Code. The Future is Now' is an exhibition in which time loses its linear form and where image goes back to the bone. Between bone and code between echo and projection we are puppets of our origins and architects of what is to come.
The 750-year-old Schiedam not only celebrates the past but also prepares for the future. How does the city move with transience and all technological developments? Does the futuristic planet ENZON offer a solution? Experience it in Evelien de Jong's project.
Evelien de Jong draws inspiration for this exhibition from the old Danse Macabre theme which comes from Memento Mori or remember to die. In this man is called by 'death' (as personification) and the dance moves towards the grave. In this the call sounds to reflect on the reality of our transience and to consider that one day we will die and have to give an account. And rank or position will not help in that. Nowadays in our secularized society people think more of Carpe Diem (seize the day and have fun).
'Echoes in the Bone Code The Future is Now' is not a journey from A to B but a breath between times. Come and see and experience it because The Future is Now!

Sunday July 6 from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM Lecture 'The secret of crooked time' by Beam Contrechoc. We will go like a detective in search of the treasure maps of astronomy and art to find out what the real shape of time is.
Performance in the installation by Evelien with things to do for the audience such as the wonderful table of one the Möbius strip and the preset of the future in a synthesizer.
Thursday July 10 at 3:00 PM personal tour by Evelien de Jong.
Friday July 11 from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM ENZON Space Dance Happening (walk-in from 7:30 PM) under the guidance of Mees and Evelien de Jong. A guided improvisation choreography with the aim of bringing music dance and art closer together and experiencing them together. We will dance a choreography with silver cloths and will dance in all kinds of different ways. No dance experience required dress code silver (not mandatory but fun).
Saturday July 12 drawing workshop from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM for children and youth.
From 3:00 PM to 3:15 PM radio play by Mees and Evelien de Jong.
From 4:00 PM to 4:15 PM performance by Evelien and Mees de Jong.
Sunday July 13 at 3:00 PM lecture 'Time travel for beginners' by Clemens Jongma. The hidden structures of (circular) time in words and images at the intersection of art science and design.
Thursday July 17 Space Yoga from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM guided by Ruby Newman. Yoga through the Galaxy to come to yourself. Bring your own yoga mat!

Sunday 20 July Art Talk at 2:00 PM also presentation of the exhibition catalogue.
At 3:00 PM finissage and announcement of the winner of the ENZON Art Prize.
All activities are free of charge.
ENZON Art Prize
A drawing competition for everyone of all ages and... there is a real Art Trophy to be won! Get inspired and draw your own interpretation of the meaning of Time and Space. This can be done in the exhibition but of course you can also do it at home.
Pencils and paper are available at the exhibition. Drawings with your name and age must be submitted before 20 July. They can be picked up at Art Centre Schiedam after the exhibition until 1 September (they will not be returned by post).
