Meet Our Presenters

Joseph A. Olszowka has over 32 years of experience handling family law cases. Mr. Olszowka has successfully litigated hundreds of cases, including complex divorce, parental allocation, parentage, child support, business valuation, adoption, and domestic violence cases. Olszowka attended John Marshall Law School, has a certificate in family law, is on the DuPage and Will County approved Child Representative/Guardian ad Litem appointment list, and is an approved mediator in DuPage County and Will County for family law cases.

Annette K. Corrigan came to Lavelle Law with more than 20 years of experience in civil litigation. For the past 10 years, Annette has focused her practice exclusively in family law and has specialized training and experience as a Guardian ad Litem, divorce mediator, and collaborative divorce attorney. Annette not only handles divorces and legal separations, but she also represents clients in premarital and post-nuptial agreement matters, guides clients through parentage cases and relocations, expertly handles child support and support modification cases, and, when necessary, takes on some of the more difficult family law matters that result in court actions in the domestic violence arena. Annette has recently added to her area of expertise in family law her representation of Guardians of minors and disabled adults.

Annette attended Marquette University for both her undergraduate and legal education. She obtained her licenses to practice law between 1989 – 1992 in the States of Wisconsin, Missouri, Kansas, and Illinois (but is currently only practicing in Illinois). She is a member of the Cook, DuPage, Will, and Kane County Bar Associations, as well as a long-term member of the Illinois State Bar Association. Annette has written and presented on the topic of alternative dispute resolution methods relating to pre- and post-decree divorce cases. She is a firm advocate for keeping families, especially children, out of the courtroom whenever possible.

Kristina Buchthal Alkass is a domestic violence, divorce, and custody attorney. Kristina joined Lavelle Law the day after her last law school exam more than 16 years ago, and she has been a family law attorney at Lavelle Law ever since. Kristina received her Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. Prior to becoming an attorney, Kristina was a news reporter at the Associated Press, the Indianapolis Star, Crain’s Chicago Business, and Restaurants and Institutions Magazine.

Kristina is a tireless advocate for custodial parents and survivors of domestic abuse. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for Northern District of Illinois, and the United States Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
