Session descriptions:
The Art of Tracking
Tracking is more than looking for tracks, it is looking for all signs left by animals. Tracking is the process of following a trail left by something. Sometimes they leave tracks, but they might also leave hair, rubs or scratches, leftovers, and scat. Students will use observation skills to find and try to identify the animal that left a clue.
Rare, Common, or Invasive
Every organism on Earth has some sort of status, which is what level a species is protected by law. What makes a plant or animal rare, common, or invasive and figure out how their status shows how much attention they are going to get. Find out through a fun rare, common, or invasive matching game and at the same time learn about some of Minnesota DNR’s conservation programs.
Seed Collection
Fall is the best time to collect prairie seed for projects, but we can’t do it all by ourselves. Learn how to identify plants by their seed heads and get a hands-on experience collecting seed. Seed collected during the program will be used for restoration projects and to reseed areas after burns.
