Solemn Choral Evensong for the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels

This Sunday, 10/5 at 5 p.m. St. John’s Schola Choir will sing Solemn Evensong, celebrating the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels. The choir will offer a rarely heard work by Sidney Campbell, “Fanfare for Michaelmas Day,” also known as “And there was war in heaven.” This dramatic setting of the text from the book of Revelation imagines the battle between St. Michael and Satan. Music by Katherine Webb and Simon Lole will also be sung. A reception will follow the liturgy in the Green-Meldrim House.
