Book Launch Reading with Sharokin “Ishtaro” BetGevargiz
Why do survival stories matter today? They remind us that even in the darkest times, creativity and community can be powerful lifelines.
Join Sharokin “Ishtaro” BetGevargiz for her first public reading as a published author in the new anthology Unleashing the Courageous Feminine, created by Story Medicine author Laura Joan Cornell. Sharokin will read from her chapter, Rosaries of Resilience: From Genocide to Ritual, which weaves family history, art, and ancestral memory.
The evening also features:
• A poster honoring Khalti Anna Badal, Sharokin’s aunt who survived the Assyrian genocide.
• A 1935 poem of resilience, written by Sharokin’s grandmother and read by her mother, Florence BetGeorge.
• An art and lace exhibition showcasing Florence BetGeorge’s heritage craft.
• Books, rosary beads, art, lacework, and Whirling Shaman merchandise available for purchase.
• Special announcements and early bird registration for upcoming workshops and dance classes with Sharokin.
