Rouge your knees and roll your stockings down. This Chifferobe escape will have you dancing and prancing on beaches and in millionaire mansions. Take flight to Savannah, GA. After landing, enjoy Southern cuisine with a contemporary twist at one of the city’s best restaurants, The Grey, a repurposed 1930s Greyhound Station. Then scoot down to Jekyll Island, where you’ll stay two nights at the Jekyll Club.
A member of the Historic Hotels of America, the Club has been a haven for influencers including the Vanderbilts, Morgans, Pulitzers, and Rockefellers since opening in 1888. Sip upon poolside cocktail. Lounge on the beach. Enjoy activities and amenities such as biking, croquet, champagne sabering lessons, and spa or simply step into the cool of your private, enclosed porch with a good book and glass of wine. Take a historic tour of the island in a replica Model T. Ford, and close the day with a nightcap at The Alexander Bar!
Then scoot back to Savannah for a guided tour of the American Prohibition Museum and cocktail class before settling into our final night’s stay at the glamorous Hotel Bardo. Spend the afternoon strolling River Street and exploring other historic sites and places of interest and/or enjoying the hotel’s amenities. Our final dinner together will be an indulgent family-style supper at Saint Bibiana, an establishment known for its cozy decadence and Italian fare.
Oh! As this escape has such a marvelous retro patina, from the Gilded Age through the Prohibition Era, we are nodding to the heart of that span of time by reviving the Flapper Mob! On the Sunday evenings leading up to our departure, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a 3-session dance workshop (in person or via zoom), resulting in a brief choreography that we will insert in places and spaces along our journey for a fancy, dancy video aka “the scrap book”. Don’t worry, this is not intended to be a full-blown spectacle for public consumption, just a few fabulous moves with magnificent backdrops that you can use to showcase your adventures as you like. So do plan to have fun packing, especially if a vintage thread already weaves its merry way through your wardrobe!
