Beginning Indigo Dyeing Class with Susannah Johnson

This fun class will be held on the porch of the community hall on Saturday, August 23 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
Indigo dyeing is a historical way for you to experience a deep dive into blue! Indigo was grown in the South
prior to the Revolution. Our warm climate and rainfall is perfect for the plant.

This class will show the magic that occurs when cotton or silk is plunged into a vat of sickly green, only
to emerge and gradually turn all shades of beautiful blue as the air touches it.

Wear old, stainable clothes and shoes. Be prepared to get a bit damp as we will rinse our items with a hose. Class fee: $20 plus a $7 materials fee that includes one cotton scarf. Feel free to bring your own 100% cotton or 100% silk item to dye as well. Ages 12 and up.
