Course Topics
Participants will receive instruction and practical experience in:
• Proper selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Job planning and hazard/risk assessment
• Chain and guide bar care and maintenance, including sharpening, tensioning, and cleaning
• Power head operation and maintenance, including:
o Fuel mixing and bar oil use
o Clutch and chain brake cleaning
o Air filter and cylinder cleaning
• Safe wood cutting techniques, including:
o Basic tree felling
o Limbing and bucking
o Developing a cutting plan and applying proper cutting methods
• Recognition of common chainsaw hazards
