Council Fire

Our Counsel Fire is a welcoming space for individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, as well as those from non-religious backgrounds. We gather around our fire pit to engage in open and respectful discussions about spiritual life from various perspectives. We will have seltzer, snacks, and s'mores fixings on hand to share with you. Other beverages are BYOB.

We have a prompt for each discussion. Our prompt this time comes from a suggestion made by one of our participants last time. The nature of truth has been an age-old topic of conversation in various circles, reemerging with phrases like "alt-truth" or "alt-facts." Is truth a verifiable constant that exists outside our perspective and experiences (objective)? Or is it based on the personal perspective and experiences (subjective)? Or is it some combination of both objective and subjective reality?

Before discussing the prompt, let's take a moment to catch up on life. Our goal is to create a safe space for discussion where different perspectives are welcome and there is no pressure to conform to any particular belief. We will have a talking stick available to facilitate the discussion if those present find it helpful.
