This class is designed to introduce the basics of cake decorating and provide a hands-on guided experience to build your skills as a decorator. After the demonstration period, you will be icing and decorating your own cake in your unique style. Lori Brumbaugh of Brumbaugh's Bakery and Confections has over 30 years of experience in the bakery industry and as a baker and cake decorator.
Lori will teach you the following cake decorating techniques:
-Types of buttercream icing
-How to ice a cake
-Techniques for mixing colors
-How to fold a parchment pastry bag and how to fill parchment and plastic pastry bags
-Basic Borders: Shell Border, Rosette Border, Star Border
-Writing and Printing Skills
-Flowers: Roses, Rosebud, Laydown Rose, Apple Blossom, Drop Flowers, Rosette
-Stems and Leaves
-Standard Design Lay-out for a Floral Cake
Each Participant will ice and decorate their own cake during the class and help with clean-up
Included in the class fee, you will receive:
-2 - 8 inch round white layer cakes on a 10 inch round cake board in a 10 inch box
-4 Decorator Tips
-3 Couplers
-1 Rose Stick
-5 Plastic Pastry Bags
-Food Coloring
-Parchment Paper
-Buttercreme
