Join Alice Kuipers, Beth Goobie, Lynn McGonigle Clark, and Maureen Ulrich for the Saskatoon launch I'm Here: YA Stories of Identity, edited by Beverley Brenna (Fitzhenry & Whiteside).
I'm Here, a collection edited by Beverly Brenna, includes nineteen brand new stories for teens from authors across Canada. Although each reflects in some way the theme of identity, multiple genres and styles flourish side by side, their pages turning toward the reader with brevity and power. From talented newbies to veteran virtuosos, these authors present a spectrum of young people who vigorously sing out, “I’m here!”
Alice Kuipers is the bestselling, award-winning author of five novels: Life on the Refrigerator Door, The Worst Thing She Ever Did, 40 Things I Want to Tell You, The Death of Us, and Me and Me, a memoir for teenager Carley Allison, Always Smile, and six books for younger readers. She also is a bestselling ghost author, experienced in writing adult memoir and self help. Alice’s work is published in 36 countries, and she’s taught thousands of people online and in person. She lives in Saskatoon, SK.
Beth Goobie is the author of 18 acclaimed novels for young adults, three of which have been published by Red Deer Press. Her books focus on the theme of self-respect, as well as the complicated jobs of learning to stand up for yourself. She lives in Saskatoon, SK.
Lynn McGonigle Clarke discovered a passion for storytelling in eighth grade. She is currently working on a young adult supernatural mystery novel. She has submitted short stories to contests and made it to the second round of the New York City Midnight Short Story Challenge. When she’s not writing, she loves reading, watching movies and television, and wandering around the outdoors while thinking of her next creative venture. Lynn lives in Saskatoon, SK/Treaty 6 with her two ridiculously photogenic dogs.
Maureen Ulrich is a YA author and playwright from Southeast Saskatchewan/Treaty Four. She’s written over forty plays for young performers, a female hockey series, and four instalments of a historical fantasy series. Though writing is the act that lights her up, she also loves attending theatre and sporting events, kayaking, golfing, and riding her motorcycle.
