ov - THE LIFE OF CHUCK - dramadie

Marty Anderson is currently teaching his class at the middle school when the news of an earthquake causes unrest. It will not be the last catastrophe; numerous others are to follow worldwide. The sudden loss of the internet also poses a severe challenge to society. How these strange events came to be is not entirely clear to anyone. What is clear is that people are overwhelmed by these changes. Marty's ex-wife Felicia witnesses this every day: as a nurse in a clinic, she has to see more and more people take their own lives. While others try to get by day to day and larger parts of technology go haywire, images of a certain Chuck are appearing everywhere, being thanked for 39 wonderful years – someone who seems to be unfamiliar to all.
Mike Flanagan's brilliant adaptation of a novella by Stephen King not only highlights that King is far more than just a bestselling author focused on horror, but as so often, also operates close to the pulse of our present.
