Saranac Lake Free Library Invasive Species Pull

Join the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program at the Saranac Lake Free Library for a fun, educational kickoff to summer on Monday, June 9 at 4:00pm. The event will begin with a short workshop that will cover basic plant identification techniques, what makes a species invasive, and how to report invasive species. Attendees will then pick up some tools to help remove and replace two invasive species—Japanese barberry and winged burning bush—from the landscaping in front of the library. This event will be a great way to learn about plants, contribute to the wellbeing of Adirondack ecosystems, and volunteer to help beautify the community’s library.

If the weather is bad, the rain date is Tuesday, June 10 from 4:00-5:00pm. Attendees are encouraged to register so they can receive updates.

The Saranac Lake Free Library Invasive Species Pull is part of New York’s Invasive Species Awareness Week, which runs from June 9-15. Organizations across all of New York state are offering a variety of engaging events, such as interpretive hikes, volunteer days, webinars, movie screenings, and fun family activities
