As pioneers of pantomime in Malta, MADC is proud to announce that for the first time in its 116 year history we will simultaneously be producing TWO pantomimes this coming December 2026/January 2027 - ‘HERCULES - The Panto’ at Teatru Salesjan & ‘PETER PAN’ at Teatru Manoel.
AUDITION APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!
One set of auditions will be held for both pantomimes on Saturday 28th February & Sunday 1st March with 40 roles up for grabs! Auditionees are of course welcome to audition for one or both pantomimes, that means more chances of being cast too. All auditionees must be aged 18 and over as of October 2026. The deadline to apply is Thursday 26th February 2026.

Calling all heroes, villains, and gods-in-training! Step into the panto spotlight this Christmas and unleash your inner hero as we bring ‘HERCULES - The Panto’ to life with big laughs, bold characters, and a truly Herculean adventure. We are looking for a heroic cast to bring Alan Montanaro’s action-packed script to life and join us on MADC’s Salesian quest!
HERCULES - The Panto CHARACTER LIST:
Main Roles:
HADES - God of the underworld. Jealous. Vindictive - This role is
precast and will be played by Alan Montanaro.
MEDUSA - Hench #1. Confident. Serpents for hair.
PHOBIA - Hench #2. A Coward. Afraid of everything.
HERCULES - Young, built, a bit dim, but with a good heart. Must be a good mover.
DAME FIXFIXU - An ex dancer. Larger than life. Matronly. Adoptive mum to Hercules. As dainty as a bison - This role is precast and will be played by Noel Zarb.
CYNERGIX - A satyr. Half man/half goat. Trainer to the gods.
PENELOPE - A sultry beauty. Reluctantly in league with Hades.
Secondary Roles:
ZEUS - Large build. Leader of the gods. He is a sky and thunder god.
HERA - Queen of the Olympian gods. Goddess of marriage, women, childbirth, and family. Can be older.
CUPID - God of Love. Lovable, clumsy.
Secondary Roles - CHORUS:
FATE 1 Cloaked and masked hag #1: Past.
FATE 2 Cloaked and masked hag #2: Present.
FATE 3 Cloaked and masked hag #3: Future.
Cameo Roles - CHORUS:
NARCISSUS - God. Vain. Holds a gold hand mirror.
DIONYSIUS/ BACCHUS - God of Wine and Excess. Can be slightly overweight.
HERMES - Messenger of the gods. Winged helmet.
APOLLO - Goddess of arts and music.
APHRODITE - Goddess of love, desire, pleasure.
ATHENA - Goddess of War.
PLATO - Old philosopher with a super long beard.
POLITIKUS - Politicians. Cowardly but means well.
SCULPTUR - A nervous wreck.

Join Wendy, her brothers, and our larger-than-life Dame on a fun-packed adventure with PETER PAN through magical Neverland, as they band together to defeat Captain Hook and his band of useless Pirates! Filled with all the characters we know and love, Peter Pan the Panto is bursting with songs across the decades, iconic panto silliness, and your yearly dose of political sarcasm.
PETER PAN Character List:
NANNY (Dame) – This role is precast and will be played by Jean Pierre Busuttil.
PETER PAN (Male / Female) - The principal boy of our story and our hero.
WENDY (Female) - Our principal girl. Wendy is a wonderful mix of innocence and maturity.
MICHAEL & JOHN (Males) - Wendy’s younger brothers who are very excited to be on this journey.
HOOK (Male) - The leader of the pirates and Peter's nemesis. He is a vain and dangerous villain but with a dry sense of humour. Great comic presence is crucial. Must be a strong singer.
ITS-SMEE (Male / Female) - Hook’s hilarious side-kick and number one fan. He is clumsy, forgetful and a rubbish pirate. An actor who’s a good mover with great stage presence and comic timing is a must.
TINKERBELL (Female) - Peter’s ally and companion who he trusts blindly. Tinkerbell must be a strong singer and mover.
Secondary Roles - CHORUS:
THE LOST KIDS (Male & Female) - 5 to 6 characters that make up this lovable clan. They will be mixed genders, ages, heights and of all shapes and sizes. Characters include a leader, a shy one, an academic, a rebel, and an innocent soul.
Cameo Roles - CHORUS:
THE CHILDREN’S PARENTS
PLUS PIRATES, MERMAIDS AND FAIRIES.

Auditionees are to kindly prepare a song of their choice that best shows off their vocal ability and range. Please bring backing tracks on your phone (we do not accept acapella auditions).
The audition will also consist of a dance routine - a video recording of the routine will be sent to you prior to the audition for you to learn and practice beforehand. All auditionees are to attend wearing shoes appropriate to dance in and comfortable BLACK clothing.
Initial Schedule:
The production photo shoots are scheduled for Sunday 27th September and Sunday 4th October 2026. Rehearsals are scheduled to start at the end of September/beginning of October 2026. Performances will include matinee and evening shows on most days - dates TBA.
