Pottery Workshop - Make A One of A Kind Ceramic Flower Tray

In this 2-hour workshop you will make a ceramic tray out of a slab, or flat piece of clay.

The instructor will provide all materials needed. You will be able to use a variety of plants and nature inspired stamps for your designs.

This is similar to the Affirmation Tray pottery wokshop we have done before. This time we will be using a dark clay instead of speckled white and have new color choices for glazing the pieces.

First, you will cut out the shape you want to design into a tray. Instructor will provide templates in round or oval shape or you can do your own shape. Tray design must be 8"X8" or smaller.

Next, you will make a plan for decorating using flowers/plants, stamps, shells, or other texture. A rolling pin will be used to push the plants into the clay. Once you carefully remove the plants to reveal your design you can use stamps to add more. Lastly, you will draw up the sides of the pieces of clay to form a bowl shape making the flat piece of clay into a tray.

You will also need to think about what color you want your pottery to be. There will be 5 colors to choose from: white, yellow, dark blue, light blue, and green. You can see examples of the first 4 in the photos for the event. I sold the green piece I had before I got a photo so I need make another.

Instructor will bring glaze samples of the colors so your can see them on the clay and confirm your choice at the completion of the workshop.

Instructor will fire and glaze pieces. They will be ready one month after the workshop for pick-up.
