Pressed Flora Workshop with Margaret Oakley

Celebrate spring by arranging pressed flora into pleasing symmetries. We’ll start with a brief demonstration on flower pressing and discuss the local spring flora of Southern California. Then participants will create their own pressed flower arrangements to take home.

Although the Eventbrite says free, the workshop cost is $10 due at the door (cash, Venmo or Zelle). Space is limited. Please RSVP to reserve your spot!

All supplies are provided for registered participants. If you prefer, you may bring your own tweezers, dried pressed flowers, and paper/upcycled glass frame. Again, all of this is provided for registered participants as well.

Kids age 8 and up are welcome with their guardians.

About the Artist:

Margaret Oakley is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice centers on issues of ecological concern. She believes joyful experiences with the natural world are key to building a more sustainable future for all. Margaret worked for more than a decade as a landscape designer in Los Angeles and is currently an Associate Professor of Art at Santa Monica College, where she teaches design fundamentals and watercolor painting. She was recently an artist in residence at the 18th St. Art Center.
