Jackson Clark, the owner of Toh-Atin Gallery in Durango, will give a talk at the Sorrel Sky Gallery in Santa Fe on Thursday, August 14, at 3 pm as Indian Market Weekend kicks into gear!

Clark’s presentation traces the arrival of the Navajo into the Southwestern United States and their evolution into having the largest reservation in the United States. Uniquely, the story is intertwined with the evolution of Navajo weaving, moving from the wearing blankets to the early regional weavings to the contemporary pieces coming from today’s looms.

Examples of weavings from the different periods of Navajo history will be used in the presentation, and a collection of over 100 quality weavings, antique and contemporary, will be available for sale over Indian Market Weekend.
