Benjamin Mendelsohn
Faculty and Founding Director of the Jean & E. Floyd Kvamme Planetarium
Benjamin Mendelsohn’s lifelong passion for astronomy began in childhood, when he attended a program at the Morrison Planetarium in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Captivated by the wonders of the night sky, he developed a deep fascination with astronomy that stayed with him throughout his life. As an engineer, Benjamin built a career spanning industrial automation, data communications, aviation, space biology research, and digital audio. In 1998, he joined the physical science faculty at West Valley College, where he played a key role in designing and establishing the college’s state-of-the-art immersive planetarium.
