About this EventDescription: If you can talk, you can freestyle. If you can freestyle, you can entertain your old friends and make yourself some new ones. Freestyle rapping is rhythmic speech you discover in the moment for entertainment and self-expression. This playful practice polishes all the golden nuggets you got locked in your noggin. In a series of games and exercises, you’ll learn to: ride a beat, imitate old flows and find fresh ones, embody alter egos, get tricky with wordplay, trade bars with partners, and overcome shyness & mental blocks. You’ll get better at rhyming too... but you’ll be shocked at how unimportant it is! Beginners welcome.
Bio: Rob Zaleski has been performing and producing improvised musicals in Los Angeles for 10 years with Thee Improvised Musical. He’s taught folks to freestyle rap in New Zealand, Denmark, and Burning Man. He’s released 2 SoundCloud mixtapes as Bobby Joe, and a solo rap musical soundtrack as Rob Zaleski (One Hump Heart).
Workshop details: This workshop takes place in the 207 Santora Building in downtown Santa Ana. It is walking distance from the Frida Cinema, allow some time for parking and finding the building. Once you enter the building, head to the top floor. The class cap is 16, so enroll soon!
