The American Medaka Association is co-hosting their inaugural Medaka Meet-Up at Nolan's Aquarium Co on Sunday, 7/27/25 from 1-5 pm! C.O.A.S.T. Fish Club will be there helping by providing volunteer support for the event and helping out LFS partner, Nolan's Aquarium Co. The 2025 MedakaFest will be a great time for the family so bring your ohana and come meet and greet our friend Mel @haynfishkeeper, who is coming down from NorCal to spend time with our community of hobbyists! This is the first time in California that medaka ricefish will be the featured primary fish at an event specifically for outdoor fish enthusiasts! You will also find other vendors selling plants, accessories, and DIY products related to medaka and outdoor fish!
Thank you Nolan's Aquarium for hosting this event in their back parking lot! We can expect to see a variety of vendors selling medaka ricefish, aquatic plant vendors, a balloon animal vendor, an open discussion around Japanese medaka culture and breeding medaka ricefish from Daniel (@medaka_fein). Fakas Island Grill will be our food vendor, and Raspados Mexico will be our event's ice cream truck vendor. We do plan to host $2 raffle tickets for grand prizes from our brand sponsors and in-store promotions on the day of the event as well.
The first 100 guests in line for the event start will receive a free AQUARIUM CO-OP tote bag which will have some brand sponsor products in them as well!
Also, be sure to check out Verdant Vivarium's Summer Frog Fest also in Fountain Valley, CA on the same day, Sunday 7/27/25 from 12-5 pm for a double-header event! Both local fish stores are part of C.O.A.S.T. Fish Club's LFS retail partners! It will be an awesome day to attend both events for sure! MedakaFest 2025 will be free to attend, however Summer Frog Fest will be $5 for attendees over 13, all children under 12 can attend for free.
