The Sandstone Ice Park Community Work Day

Winter is coming!
Please join the Minnesota Climbers Association's Ice Farming Crew on Saturday, November 8th for a work day at The Sandstone Ice Park.
We will be meeting at The Shed/Ice Park HQ on the corner of Park and 8th in Sandstone at 10am
Please be courteous to our community neighbors.
Come prepared for a day outside.
Goals of the day:
+Remove foliage from the cliff face+
Plants and such on the cliff interfere with making safe, fun vertical ice. It also wastes water.
We are looking for 15 or so people who are comfortable on a rope and GriGri (or Cinch, Virgo etc) to rappel over the cliff edge and clip away. If you are up for this please bring appropriate gear and cliff-edge padding. Please bring clippers, loppers, and saws too! A limited number of implements will be available.

Chainsaw away a any dead trees that “might” be tempting anchors.
Clear any downed trees
Clear foliage at top of cliff (you'll want a personal anchor).
Brush gathering at base of cliff
General litter gathering
Please bring an electric or gas powered W**d trimmer if you have access to one.
The Sandstone Ice Park only happens with dedicated volunteers like you!
We will probably head over to Sandrocks (421 Commercial Ave N) in the early evening for dinner and live music.
This event is a great way for new climbers to get involved and meet other climbers.
