2nd Annual Walking & History Weekend

Day ONE - 1pm - Saturday 13th September - This year's mini-festival kicks off with a 4.3-mile walk around the medieval deserted village of Wharram Percy, prehistoric earthworks in Deep Dale and the Malton and Driffield Railway which closed in 1958. Followed by a pie and pea supper & first drink at Seaways Café in Fridaythorpe (5pm) and a fascinating talk about Deserted Medieval Villages of Yorkshire by local historian Marcus Ramshaw (6.30pm). You can also book the supper and talk for just £15
Day TWO - 10am - Sunday 14th September - The 2nd day of our Festival starts and ends in Kirby Grindalythe. After a breakfast of bacon rolls (or veg alternative) and a drink, we will explore a 5.3-mile route that encounters the magical Gypsy Race stream as well as the medieval deserted village of Mowthorpe, before heading back to St Andrews Church, one of Sykes' Churches. for a talk by Louise Hampson, local historian, plus tea and cake (of course!). You can also just book for the tea, cakes and talk for £12.50
