Rare Plants at Tefft Savanna & Coastal Ponds Nature Preserves

Known as a stopover for migrating sandhill cranes, this property is also home to spectacular flora found in the property’s wetlands which provide rare inland coastal plain marsh communities. Our state botanist Scott Namestnik (IDNR) will lead this hike, introducing us to many of the uncommon or rare species normally found only along the coasts of the Atlantic Ocean. Wear sturdy hiking shoes/bring trekking poles, if desired.
