Tour the Exhibits of Kay Sekimachi and Virginia Davis

Join the Textile Arts Council for a private tour led by the curator Melissa Leventon.

TAC Members $30, non-members $35. Refunds up to seven days prior to the event.

Curator Melissa Leventon will give us a walk-around tour of the exhibitions with a focus on Kay and Virginia and their works that are on display. Then guest curator Joyce Hulbert will present the survey of works from the SJMQT permanent collection of Kay Sekimachi's contemporaries in the California weaving movement of the 1960's and 70's.

Later in the afternoon, at 2:00 pm, Melissa will give her lecture "On and Off the Loom: Kay Sekimachi and 20th Century Fiber Art." This talk will focus on Kay and her position within the greater fiber art field in her active era. This lecture may cover some of what we have learned about Kay on our morning tour, but wil not include live discussion of works in the exhibit. The two programs should complement one another nicely. TAC tour participants are cordially invited to attend the lecture.
