This August 21 at Caravan Lounge – we dance deep and loud.
We do things for a reason, grounded in roots.

Chicha music is rebellious at heart — born of migration, struggle, and working-class creativity. So it’s no surprise that Los Shapis, icons of Peruvian chicha, resonated with punk. Their tribute to The Ramones — tight jeans, leather jackets, sunglasses — wasn’t imitation, but transformation.

This visual crossover is one of the most striking examples of cultural hybridization in Latin American pop culture: Andean rhythms mixed with psychedelic keyboards and electric guitars, combined with a rebellious visual identity borrowed from punk and rock’n’roll. Far from imitation, it was a bold act of appropriation — reinterpreting global countercultures through the lens of Peruvian street music.
