This a call out to ALL African Ancestry People of San Jose AND specfcally to those residents of the Evergreen community

Did you know that the Evergreen community has one highest percentage of Black residents of all of San Jose.

So We Are Honoring the Past. Growing Our Future.

Join us for an evening of culture, community, and collective action as we honor the revolutionary legacy of Black August. Through food, film, games, and dialogue, we will reflect on the struggles and triumphs of our ancestors—and take steps toward liberation in our own community today.

This is more than a potluck. It’s a moment to gather, learn, and act.

What to Expect:

• 🎲 Interactive GamesPlay our custom-created Black August Jeopardy Challenge and Wheel of Fortune, featuring Black history, culture, and resistance.
• 🎥 Film Screening: Black August (2007)A powerful dramatization of George Jackson’s life and final months, sparking deep reflection on incarceration, resistance, and revolutionary love.
• 🗣️ Community DiscussionGuided by thought-provoking questions, we’ll unpack the film’s themes and explore what liberation means for us today.
• 🍲 Potluck DinnerBring a dish, break bread, and connect with your village. Food is liberation.
