Once again, TAASC is delighted to announce our upcoming Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) training course, returning to Malta on the 13th-17th of April, 2026.
Expert Training Team:
Dr. Mark Lovell, dual-qualified Child and Adolescent Intellectual Disability Psychiatrist from the UK, leads this intensive training. As a WPS-certified international trainer and trainer of trainers, Dr. Lovell has delivered the majority of ADOS-2 training in Malta since 2016, working with the Maltese NHS, The Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and TAASC Ltd.
Dr. Lovell will be accompanied by additional experienced trainers from the UK, ensuring exceptional supervision ratios and personalised attention throughout the course.
Why This Training Matters:
The ADOS-2 represents the international gold standard for autism assessment, specifically recommended in clinical guidelines including NICE (UK). This standardised, evidence-based tool is used globally across clinical and research settings, spanning all developmental stages from 12-month-old toddlers through adulthood, accommodating individuals from pre-verbal to fluent speech levels across five comprehensive modules.
Comprehensive Training Structure:
This intensive 5-day course dedicates one full day to each ADOS-2 module, using proven teaching methodologies including didactic instruction, interactive demonstrations, supervised practice, and consensus scoring.
Daily Schedule (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM):
Morning: Module introduction, task demonstration, supervised practice with materials
Afternoon: WPS video observation with note-taking, individual/group scoring, supervised consensus scoring
Progress Monitoring: Movement toward research reliability (80% threshold)
Evening: Independent pre-reading for next module
Who Should Attend:
Professionals with experience in standardized assessments and substantial autism exposure, including:
Speech and Language Pathologists
Psychologists
Occupational Therapists
Nurses
Counsellors
Play therapists
Psychiatrists and Paediatricians
Trainees
Professionals without formal registration may attend if they have sufficient autism experience, employment in diagnostic/research services, and appropriate supervision arrangements.
Investment & Certification:
Course Fee: €1,000 (includes all training materials and supervision).
Outcome: Official attendance certificate authorising clinical ADOS-2 use (subject to professional competency requirements)
Important Note: The ADOS-2 forms one component of a comprehensive autism assessment and should be integrated with standardised developmental history, naturalistic observations, and consideration of differential diagnoses. Dr Mark Lovell is able to complete the Training schedules if participants are applying for funding via the Investing in Skills Fund.
