About the event

Writing Workshop: Anne Lamott & Maggie Smith
Join Anne Lamott and Maggie Smith for an intimate literary evening at Writing Room’s headquarters. Limited seats available.

About this Event

Join us for an evening of connection, conversation, and craft with Anne Lamott and Maggie Smith.

The evening begins with a workshop led by Maggie Smith called Writing From Memory. In this generative workshop, we'll work on creating art from life using our memories as the material. We'll look at:

- How to get the heart of a lived experience onto the page
- How to feel comfortable and confident sharing our personal lives with a public audience
- What forms work best, and what craft elements to lean on

Next, Anne Lamott joins for a fireside chat with Maggie, and to take audience questions and to share her decades of writing wisdom. A book signing with Maggie Smith will conclude the evening (your ticket includes a copy of Dear Writer).

This intimate event is limited to 40 participants. Writing Room's sunlit studio is located at 301 8th Street, Suite 235. Simply buzz the intercom when you arrive, or call 415-603-8336. There is street parking available and parking garages nearby.

This event will be streaming to a virtual audience, so doors will close no later than 4:15pm and late entries will not be permitted.
