About the event

Winging it: Songs of the Stratosphere
A beautiful concert about resilience, featuring opera, French songs, and movie music inspired by the grace and strength of birds.

About this Event

The program was inspired by birds’ ability to withstand the whirlwind of life with elegance and music. A story of resilience. It includes favorite arias, lesser-known French operatic gems, and songs by Rimsky-Korsokov, John Duke, Fairouz, and Reynaldo Hahn. American cinematic treasures also make their appearance.

Performers:
Known for her “soaring high notes” and for the “smooth quality” of her voice, Lila Khazoum is a soprano based in Tracy, California. Most recently, she sang the role of Belinda in Festival Opera’s esteemed production of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. In 2022, she performed the role of Frasquita in its culturally updated Carmen. She was last seen at the Gregangelo Museum performing her show Phantasmagoria: Into the Mist.
Her daughter Liz is a budding actress, studying at First Take Acting in San Francisco for the past two years.
