San Francisco faces a severe homelessness crisis, with the number of people without permanent shelter reaching record highs—over 16,600 as of 2024, and projections suggesting this could rise sharply by 2030. The city has responded with significant investments, including expanding shelter capacity, increasing supportive housing, and leveraging state funds like the $44 million in HHAP funding to reduce encampments and bring people indoors. Join Kunal Modi, Chief of Health, Homelessness, and Family Services and Sharky Laguana (Homeless Oversight Commission) to share what is being done to provide practical, incremental improvements while advocating for systemic changes to prevent homelessness before it starts.
