The Golden Stroll

The Drop In is proud to present a Golden Gate Park history stroll, in community with local historian and storyteller Peter Coleridge!

We'll kick things off at the top of JFK with a Drop In to mix and mingle and meet your fellow community members who are also curious about the history of our beloved park. Then we will embark on a Golden Gate Park adventure of a lifetime, following Peter through secret pathways and forgotten corners of the park while connecting with fellow Bay Area friends!

Ever wondered: Who is responsible for the beautiful rose garden? Why are there bison in the park? What's the origin story of Hippie Hill? Peter is a passionate historian of the city, so we will be hearing fascinating stories of the origins of the park and how it has become what we know it to be today!

Be prepared for surprise guest speakers, a magical sound bath while forest bathing in the redwoods, a ton of historical facts about the park you can tell your friends all about, and a day that will leave you feeling more connected to this beautiful city and the people in it!

Where to Meet:

We will meet at the top of JFK prominade at the intersection of JFK Drive and Conservatory Drive at the Yellow Dot (in front of the new Betsabeé Romero sculpture)

What to bring:

• Your walking shoes
• Wear something golden! The more golden the better! (There will be a prize given to most golden get up!)
• An open heart ready to learn and make new friends
• Layers! You know the deal people!
• Something to sit on for occasional sit down stops (A trash bag or small picnic blanket shall do!)
• A tiny trinket of yours that brings you joy to show off to a new friend

The Drop In creates heart-opening community experiences dedicated to bringing people together through unique, connection-focused, once in a lifetime experiences around San Francisco. Founded by Friendship Facilitator and Community Advocate, Stephanie Cowan. The Drop In harnesses the power of genuine human connection and the magic that happens when strangers become friends. Stephanie's goal? To connect as many Bay Area residents as possible through joyful, playful, educational, heart centered programming to help create a deeper sense of belonging and joy in our city.
