Walking the labyrinth invites you to center yourself, find peace of mind and open to new possibilities. Dating back to 2000 BCE, these winding patterns cross time and cultures representing one's journey with all its twists and turns.
In this workshop, you will learn a series of seed patterns that will enable you to create various types of labyrinths out of almost anything anywhere, from tracing in the sand on the beach to piecing together repurposed materials. After exploring several of Maia’s labyrinths and various tactile drawing/collage methods, you will create a tactile hand-held labyrinth that celebrates who you are, honors an intention or embraces the joy of creative process.
About the guest artist: Maia Scott is a blind interdisciplinary artist, and arts educator living in San Francisco with her guide dog Gleam. She is a certified bodyworker and labyrinth facilitator, and has an MFA from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Scott teaches accessible movement, theater, and art at City College of San Francisco and provides services as an access consultant to local museums and venues.
