She thinks of herself as an accidental DJ - encouraged by her dance partner to share her music selection with dancers out in the wild. And now she loves doing so! She likes her music the way she likes her dances: rich with story, texture, dynamic range, and emotion to foster connection on and off the dance floor. As a DJ my focus on any given evening is to tell a story. Every set I create is meant to be its own self-contained narrative arc, the building blocks of which are songs with complex lyrical content and/or varied instrumentality. With a combined experience of 43 years of partner dancing and 37 years of teaching, they have developed a heartfelt approach to sharing dance and incorporate creative techniques to engage and inspire their students. Moved by music as a source of creative expression, Mark and Sia approach each dance as a new canvas to paint.
